Menos rock, mais diversidade: Rolling Stone refaz lista com 500 melhores músicas da história

Nova metodologia da publicação visa trazer novos artistas e estilos para o famoso ranking

Pela primeira vez desde 2004, quando foi criada, a famosa lista feita pela Rolling Stone com as 500 melhores músicas da história foi reformulada pela revista. Para isso, a publicação ouviu artistas e outros profissionais do meio musical, que tiveram o direito de votar para construir o ranking.

A intenção da nova lista era clara: diversificar ainda mais a lista, incluindo também artistas mais recentes. A polêmica, no entanto, será grande.

Ao todo, a Rolling Stone consultou mais de 250 pessoas entre músicos, produtores, críticos e jornalistas, pedindo a cada um deles que enviasse uma lista com 50 músicas. Mais de 4 mil canções foram citadas e com base na quantidade de votos, a revista montou o ranking.

As diferenças

O resultado é bem diferente do anterior, de 2004. Pouco mais da metade da lista é inteiramente nova – e as maiores mudanças aconteceram justamente no top 100.

A melhor música da história, de acordo com a lista, é “Respect”, de Aretha Franklin. A faixa de 1967 é seguida por “Fight the Power”, hit do Public Enemy, na segunda colocação; e “A Change is Gonna Come”, de Sam Cooke, em terceiro.

Em um panorama geral, o rock e o soul, predominantes na lista de 2004, cederam alguns de seus lugares ao pop, ao country e até à música latina. Nesse sentido, o objetivo foi conquistado: a diversidade de gêneros musicais foi aumentada drasticamente.

Falando em música latina, só há uma canção brasileira na nova lista: “Ponta de Lança Africano (Umbabarauma)”, de Jorge Ben Jor, que ocupa a 351ª posição.

  1. Listas com critérios insondáveis ou por preferências pessoais de quem votou? Se agora incluiram a diversidade, onde está Garota de Ipanema, ou um tango tipo Caminito, ou um bolero tipo Perfidia ou Besame Mucho? Tem ainda as igualmente belas e famosas italianas por exemplo; Volare… e olhem meu estilo preferido é rock, e para mim a número um seria Satisfaction, a segunda Sweet Home Alabama, mas jamais desprezei uma linda canção, por isso listas estão bem por fora, uma “lista geral” tá muito mais por fora.

  2. Concordo com vc, Armando. Ainda bem que tenho a minha própria lista.
    A RS quer agora ficar na modinha. Ninguém mas se lembrava dessas músicas que ele colocaria agora. Pena.
