Os detalhes do relançamento de 50 anos de “Wish You Were Here”, do Pink Floyd

Há exatos 50 anos, em 12 de setembro de 1975, o Pink Floyd lançava “Wish You Were Here”, seu nono disco de estúdio. Para comemorar a data, o álbum ganhará um relançamento com direito a formato bastante luxuoso, recheado de extras para os fanáticos.

Intitulado “Wish You Were Here 50”, o material terá versões em box set, CD duplo, vinil triplo e digital, sempre com o trabalho original remixado em Dolby Atmos, disponíveis a partir de 12 de dezembro. A edição expandida contará com um livro de capa dura com fotos, faixas extras e um show gravado em Los Angeles, em abril de 1975, poucos meses antes de o disco chegar a público.

Entre os extras, destacam-se versões alternativas da faixa-título, “Have a Cigar” e uma nova mixagem das nove partes de “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”. A banda divulgou também a faixa “The Machine Song (Demo #2, Revisited)”, uma versão inicial da música que viria a se tornar “Welcome to the Machine”. Ouça:

Ao vivo em Los Angeles

O mencionado show, gravado na L.A. Sports Arena, chama atenção pela forma como foi gravado. O registro é obra do lendário bootlegger Mike “The Mic” Millard, famoso por registrar apresentações de diversos artistas por conta própria, sempre em Los Angeles. E dessa vez, uma de suas “obras” se tornou oficial.

Millard passou anos aplicando um “golpe” nas casas de show: munido de uma cadeira de rodas falsa, ele conseguia entrar nos locais levando um gravador por baixo do assento. Quando as luzes se apagavam, Mike conectava o aparelho a microfones que carregava em seu chapéu. Foi assim que ele conseguiu registros lendários de artistas Genesis, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Yes e o próprio Pink Floyd, ao longo da década de 1970.

Ao contrário de outras bandas da época, o Pink Floyd não gravava seus próprios shows com tanta frequência. É por isso que áudios como o de Millard acabam sendo importantes em lançamentos como esse. O bootlegger morreu em 1994.
