St. Vincent, Jason Isbell e Sam Fender lançam covers curiosos de “Sad But True”, do Metallica

Três versões para “Sad But True”, do Metallica, foram divulgadas nesta terça-feira (29). St. Vincent, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit e Sam Fender revelaram seus covers para o hit, lançado originalmente no “Black Album”, de 1991.

As regravações estarão em “The Metallica Blacklist”, disco de covers organizado pelo próprio Metallica para homenagear os 30 anos de “Black Album”. Mais de 50 artistas participaram do projeto, como Miley Cyrus, Elton John, Ghost, Volbeat, J Balvin, entre outros.

A regravação de St. Vincent adota uma pegada synthrock, quase futurista, que é acompanhado pelo videoclipe. Apesar da orientação mais moderna, o momento reservado para o solo de guitarra é mantido, com fraseados similares aos originais envolvidos em um timbre mais seco.

Já a versão de Jason Isbell é um blues raiz de groove peculiar. Ganhou um andamento upbeat, bem animado, virando quase outra música.

Sam Fender, por sua vez, deu uma abordagem melancólica à sua regravação. A música, aqui, é conduzida apenas por voz e piano, com entrada de instrumentos orquestrais de corda em passagens mais específicas.

Foi revelada, ainda, uma gravação demo de “Sad But True”, que estará no relançamento remasterizado do “Black Album”, na versão deluxe. O registro apresentado hoje foi produzido, especificamente, no dia 5 de fevereiro de 1991.

Tanto “The Metallica Blacklist” quanto o relançamento de “Black Album” serão lançados no próximo dia 10 de setembro.

O Metallica celebra o 30º aniversário de seu quinto álbum, homônimo, também conhecido como “Black Album”, em grande estilo. O trabalho, divulgado originalmente em 1991 e o maior sucesso da carreira da banda, será homenageado com dois lançamentos, marcados para sair no próximo dia 10 de setembro.

O primeiro deles é uma versão remasterizada do disco em vários formatos. São eles: LP duplo de 180 gramas, CD padrão, CD triplo da edição expandida, digital e box set.

O segundo projeto é um álbum de covers, em que mais de 50 artistas foram convidados a regravar alguma música do “Black Album”. Intitulado “The Metallica Blacklist”, o trabalho reúne nomes como Miley Cyrus, Elton John, Ghost, Volbeat, Weezer, Corey Taylor, Biffy Clyro, Royal Blood, PUP, St. Vincent, IDLES, entre outros.

De acordo com material de divulgação, “The Metallica Blacklist” oferece “novas dimensões do disco cuja atração gravitacional primeiro trouxe o mainstream para o Metallica e traz novos insights sobre o apelo universal e atemporal que o mantem no topo: a influência que essas 12 músicas tiveram sobre fãs e músicos de todos os gêneros”.

A receita de cada venda, download ou stream de “The Metallica Blacklist” será dividida igualmente entre as instituições de caridade da escolha do artista e para a All Within My Hands Foundation, ONG do Metallica.

“The Metallica Blacklist” estará disponível em variados formatos, incluindo digital e físico.

Uma versão de “Nothing Else Matters” feita por Miley Cyrus, Elton John, Andrew Watt, Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Yo-Yo Ma e o próprio Robert Trujillo, baixista do Metallica, já foi disponibilizada.
