Sobre a primeira colocada, o staff da revista afirma:
“Quem mais? Prince passou os anos 80 como o gênio mais incrivelmente brilhante e imprevisível do segmento. Ele manteve o mundo tentando adivinhar seu próximo movimento, enquanto todos ainda estavam atualizando sobre o que ele estava fazendo alguns movimentos atrás. Se ‘1999’ não é o melhor álbum da década, é só porque é ‘Sign o’ the Times’ – ainda uma decisão difícil. Prince tem algumas dezenas de músicas que poderiam estar no topo desta lista, mas ”Kiss’ é o som de Prince se exibindo, seu hit mais brincalhão e perverso, provando que ele é seis ou sete dos melhores cantores do planeta. ‘Kiss’ é um funk enganosamente minimalista, uma surpresa total quando chegou às rádios na primavera de 1986, após o triunfo de ‘1999’ e ‘Purple Rain’, então o doce ‘Around the World in a Day’. Não há baixo algum, o que dá espaço para pavonear todo o seu eletro-slither vanguardista. Ele murmura ‘você não pode ser sedutor demais’ no falsete mais sedutor que se possa imaginar, guardando seus gritos loucos por sexo para o final.”

Nada do Men At Work, do Phil Collins, do Midnight Oil, do Tears for Fears, do Dire Straits, The Cars, Rockwell, Chicago, Scorpions, Cult, Noel, Information Society?? Cadê Just an Illusion, do Imagination, cadê She Blinded Me with Science, do Thomas Dolby??? E um monte de banda que ninguém nunca ouviu falar. Sem falar os grupos/ cantores lembrados, mas com uma música totalmente equivocada… O fornecedor de maconha desse povo da Rolling Stone está misturando coisa muito estranha.

Essas listas da Rolling Stones já foram interessantes e pertinentes um dia, hoje não passam de listas subjetivas em sua totalidade. Igual aquela lista dos 200 melhores cantores de todos os tempos, que divulgaram no início do ano, deixaram de fora nomes como Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Luciano Pavarotti etc e, colocaram Arianna Grande na frente de Elton John e Karen Carpenter.
