O site da revista americana ‘Rolling Stone’ publicou uma lista com os 500 melhores álbuns da história da música. O novo levantamento atualiza o anterior, realizado em 2003.
Para construir o ranking, a publicação recebeu listas em formato top 50 de mais de 300 artistas, produtores, críticos e personalidades da indústria musical, desde radialistas até executivos de gravadoras. Nomes como Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Beyoncé, H.E.R., Adam Clayton e The Edge (ambos U2), Gene Simmons (Kiss) e Stevie Nicks (Fleetwood Mac), Steve Perry (Journey), entre vários outros, participaram do levantamento.
Entre os 500 álbuns na nova listagem, 154 não estavam no primeiro ranking. Além disso, 76 discos foram lançados no século 21.
Como resultado geral dessa atualização, cabe destacar que o rock perdeu força, enquanto o hip hop ganhou relevância, especialmente pelos trabalhos mais atuais. O maior reconhecimento ao rap e a segmentos da soul music fizeram com que os artistas negros ganhassem destaque no top 500.
Outro ponto curioso é que os Beatles perderam a “majestade” – ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ ocupava a primeira posição do levantamento original, enquanto que, neste, o disco ‘What’s Going On’, de Marvin Gaye, está no topo. No novo ranking, o álbum melhor colocado do Fab Four é ‘Abbey Road’, em quinto.
